EN – The major Belgian fund raising action for development aid is a peace initiative. On the day that everyone repeats ‘no more war’, 11.11.11 brings to the attention that you actually can do something to prevent wars – for instance by spreading prosperity more evenly.

Like every year our friend Ghisl comes along to fetch our 11.11.11. contribution, but we’re not at home. 11.11.11. wants 0,7% of the Belgian GDP being spent on development aid. I calculate that 0,7% of my income is not that awful much.

NL – De grootste inzamelactie voor ontwikkelingshulp is een vredesinitiatief. Op de dag dat iedereen ‘nooit meer oorlog’ herhaalt, wijst 11.11.11. er op dat ook je iets kunt doen om oorlog te voorkomen: welvaart eerlijker verdelen, bijvoorbeeld.

Zoals elk jaar is vriend Ghisl langs gekomen om onze bijdrage voor 11.11.11. op te halen, maar we zijn niet thuis. 11.11.11. wil dat 0,7% van het Belgische BNP naar ontwikkelingssamenwerking zou moeten gaan. Ik reken uit dat 0,7% van mijn inkomen niet gigantisch veel is.
